Stress and Emotional Well-Being

With the CoronaVirus safety precautions in place for our physical safety, we have to stay mentally healthy as well. Below is the information from the LA county for helping us cope with the mental load this is bringing upon us.  

Remember to ask yourself: “Is this really in my control?” We can only help our children stay calm, if we are calm. 

Stay positive, stick to the facts, limit news media consumption, and try to stay light and use self-care. When anyone has change or uncertainty this can create some levels of worry or anxiety. When this occurs, it is important to use positive coping strategies to manage those emotions.

Maintaining mental health while at home:

  • Maintain a routine and structured environment
  • Eat healthfully
  • Get the right amount of sleep
  • Exercise! Dance! Keep it light and fun!--> You can find great exercise videos for kids on YOUTUBE as well as mindfulness guidance for kids too.  GONOODLE has a lot of great resources. Go on youtube and search: gonoodle, kids mindfulness, kids exercise, cosmic kids yoga, etc.
