Trips, Public Gatherings, Social Distancing and Travel

Field Trips:

Because of the rapid and unpredictable spread of the Coronavirus we are taking all necessary precautions to limit the exposure of the virus to our students and our communities. As of now, all off-campus school trips and public gatherings are cancelled, with the exception of the 8th grade trips which are pending, depending on the situation at the time. As we continue to monitor the risks we will make updated decisions regarding future trips.

Social Distancing:

The CDC defines social distancing as "remaining out of congregate settings, avoiding mass gatherings and maintaining distance (approximately 6 feet) from others when possible." Learning from home instead of coming to school is an example of social distancing. This is NOT the time to go to the mall, Disneyland, or any large gatherings. If you are feeling bored, we have LOTS of suggestions for you that you can do at home. Check your teacher’s folder and the folders of our PE, music, computer, and library teachers.

School Closure due to COVID-19 does not mean School Vacation. This is a social distancing method put in place to contain the spread of the coronavirus. Therefore, we are strongly advising families not to bring your children to public places as the risk of exposure especially if someone in the crowd contains the virus. This includes settings such as conferences, public events, public spaces (like movie theatres and shopping malls), amusement parks, and public transportation (like buses, metros, and  trains). We are hoping that by initiating this short quarantine it will prevent the spread of the virus and allow for the community to recover at a faster rate.

Travel:

Please take the necessary precautions when making travel plans. It is not recommended to travel to highly impacted countries. Be advised that the CDC has determined that depending on your travel history you could be asked to stay home for a period of 14 days.

Traveler Health Alert Notice:

This Travelers’ Health Alert Notice (T-HAN) is given at ports of entry to travelers arriving from high-risk countries (with a LEVEL 3 Travel Health Notice). The T-HAN directs travelers to a webpage with more information in multiple languages on self-monitoring, symptoms of COVID-19, and what to do if they have symptoms.
